Steve Tehovnik is the Deputy Director of the Trial Division at the Allegheny County Office of the Public Defender. He began his career with the office in 2016 and has worked mostly in the Trial and Appeals Divisions. He was appointed Managing Attorney with the Trial and Appeals Divisions in March of 2021 and transferred full time to the Trial Division later that year.
While attending law school, Steve worked as a law clerk for the Cuyahoga County Public Defender’s Office and spent a semester working full-time at the Kramer Criminal Justice Clinic, defending clients as a certified legal intern. After graduation, Steve worked as a Post-Graduate Fellow with the Federal Public Defender’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Steve earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude with a Criminal Law Concentration.
