Susan Yohe Pittsburgh Legal Diversity & Inclusion Coalition Scholarship 2024-2025 Recipients Named

The University of Pittsburgh School of Law and Duquesne Kline School of Law have selected the 2024-2025 Susan Yohe Pittsburgh Legal Diversity & Inclusion Coalition (PLDIC) scholars. This year’s recipients are Miranda Schramm (Robert Morris University ’25), Pitt Law; and Nia Latham (Pennsylvania West University ’23), Duquesne Kline. With the scholarship in its third year of existence, there are now scholars at both schools in the 1L, 2L, and 3L levels.

The PLDIC created the Susan Yohe PLDIC Scholarship to honor Susan Yohe's lifetime of service in championing and furthering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Pittsburgh legal community. Yohe is one of the PLDIC's founders and served as its Executive Director from its inception in 2017 until her retirement in July 2021. PLDIC member Duquesne Light Company funds the PLDIC's portion of the scholarship.  The scholarship award recipients will receive a $10,000 tuition scholarship per year.

These recipients are committed to improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession. In addition to the monetary award, this fall, the scholarship winners will also be invited to meet with the PLDIC Board of Directors, the PLDIC Young Professional Advisory Board, the PLDIC Executive Director, the Deans of Pitt Law and Duquesne Kline, and leadership from Duquesne Light Company. The PLDIC will introduce each recipient to its over 60 PLDIC member organizations through the PLDIC newsletter, social media, website, and at its annual members meeting later this year.

"With sincere appreciation, I extend my gratitude to the PLDIC for selecting me as the 2024-2025 Susan Yohe PLDIC Scholar from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law,” stated Miranda. “The Susan Yohe PLDIC Scholarship stands as a testament to the Pittsburgh legal community's unwavering dedication to fostering equitable outcomes, inclusion, and support for all within the legal field. While attending the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, I am determined to continue the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal field. I greatly look forward to meeting and communicating with PLDIC leadership and previous scholars in the upcoming months."
