The University of Pittsburgh School of Law is pleased to announce Kellie Ware's appointment as the Executive Director of the Professional Development Office (PDO). In this role, Kellie will oversee the office's day-to-day operations, provide student counseling, develop programming to enhance students' professional skills, and engage with employers across various sectors.
Kellie earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Pittsburgh and later her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts. Her legal studies were marked by a focus on Poverty Law and Economic Justice, Law and Development, and active participation in the Civil Rights and Restorative Justice Clinic.
Kellie's leadership journey began in Pittsburgh, where she worked as a staff attorney at Neighborhood Legal Services, championing tenant rights. She then took on the role of the inaugural Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Policy Analyst for the City of Pittsburgh, making significant strides in equity and inclusion. Her leadership continued as the Executive Director of the NAACP’s Pittsburgh Branch, and later as the Director of Community Partnerships and Sustainability at The Forbes Funds. She also led the Summer Clerkship Program as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Allegheny County Bar Association.
"In my last role, I worked extensively with employers, students, and law schools, which has given me a unique insight around necessary programming and other chances to boost our students as they launch their careers," Kellie said. "I've always enjoyed working with students, and I'm excited to be back on campus with its day-to-day contact and greater opportunity for impact."
Kellie's work with law students in her previous roles ignited a passion for career counseling and professional development, making her an ideal fit for the Pitt Law Professional Development Office. She brings extensive legal expertise and a profound dedication to fostering the growth and success of future legal professionals.
