The University of Pittsburgh School of Law’s Offices of Professional Development and Equity and Inclusive Excellence invite the community to a vital forum addressing Natural Hair Discrimination on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This event will take place on the 7th floor of Pitt’s Alumni Hall, located at 4227 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15260.
Join us for an enlightening evening featuring The Honorable La'Tasha D. Mayes, Representative for Pennsylvania’s 24th District, who will discuss the statewide initiative to eradicate natural hair discrimination. Following her presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session.
The evening will begin with a welcome from Kellie Ware, Esq., Executive Director of Pitt Law’s Professional Development Office. Clyde Wilson Pickett, PhD, Vice Chancellor and Chief Diversity Officer at Pitt, will share opening remarks, setting the tone for this critical discussion. Additionally, Rita Porterfield, Investigator for the City of Pittsburgh Human Relations Commission, will provide insights on the CROWN Act, current legislation, and its enforcement.
