Pitt Law Professor Anjali Vats was announced as a 2022 member of this year’s Soros Equality Fellows. Vats will join a diverse group of professionals to advance racial justice, including voting rights, immigration, asylum practices, intellectual property law, and media accountability. Among the projects, Vats will focus on race and equity in intellectual property law, by developing multimedia educational resources designed to reach a range of audiences, including teachers, lawyers, policymakers, creators, and activists.
Her award-winning book, The Color of Creatorship: Intellectual Property, Race and the Making of Americans (Stanford University Press, 2020), examines the relationship between copyright, patent, and trademark law, race, and national identity formation.
