Ira Karoll focuses his practice on the defense of civil litigation in state and federal courts. He has experience in product liability cases, complex commercial disputes, insurance coverage, the False Claims Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. He has represented clients in pleadings, injunction hearings, fact and expert discovery, depositions, discovery motions, summary judgment, mediations, Daubert/Frye expert motions, pretrial motions, and appeals. He has drafted briefs for cases pending in state and federal courts throughout the U.S., including in Pennsylvania, California, Oregon, and Rhode Island.

Ira has counseled clients in the transportation industry, including during NTSB investigations. He also represents clients in the energy industry. Ira is representing a client in a dispute with former employees regarding oil and gas rights in the Marcellus Shale formation. He has also represented clients in commercial disputes involving the sale of a natural gas lease in the Marcellus Shale formation and in international litigation regarding ownership of oil rights in the Middle East.

Ira serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh Law School, teaching a class on the First Amendment. He also is active in pro bono causes, including the Allegheny County Bar Foundation Veterans Legal Clinic. Ira serves on the boards of Congregation Poale Zedeck and Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh.
