Pat Chew on Judges' Gender, at Pitt

Professor Pat Chew presented at the University of Pittsburgh Women’s Studies Program Lecture Series on February 17, 2010. Her talk entitled “Does the Judges’ Gender Make a Difference in Employment Discrimination Cases?” was based on a macro-level review of empirical studies, including some of her own co-authored research. Her research review indicated strong empirical evidence that the judges’ gender matters in sex-discrimination cases, but the evidence is mixed in employment discrimination cases that are not based on a gender-related dispute.
