Arthur Hellman Shares Opinion on Potential 9th Circuit Nomination

Judge Lucy Koh, known as "the most influential judge in Silicon Valley" is a potential candidate for the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Lawyers and judges are speculating that the Obama administration will nominate Koh for this position, but will face obstacles in appointing her because of the late timing in an election year. Pitt Law Professor Arthur Hellman, an expert on the 9th Circuit, thinks "The likelihood of an Obama nominee to the 9th Circuit getting through the Senate in this election year is close to zero." If the nomination is stalled in the Senate, Koh can still be renominated by the new president in the fall.
