Registration for the DHS Case Competition

Publish Date/Time:
October 24, 2012

Registration is now open for the sixth annual Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) Local Government Case Competition! This unique opportunity will allow our region's brightest graduate students to work together to solve a challenging public sector policy problem, compete for cash prizes, work with other graduate students on an interdisciplinary team, and network with community partners.

This year’s competition is once again sponsored by the Human Services Integration Fund and will take place November 7-10, 2012.

Over the past five years, we have asked participants to imagine and analyze the future of human services delivery, envision how DHS could become a more environmentally friendly organization while promoting a more sustainable human services system, assist the Homewood Children’s Village in developing a strategic plan, narrow the achievement gap for students attending Pittsburgh Public Schools who are receiving DHS services, and, last year, we focused on reducing stigma among consumers with serious mental illness. This year’s topic promises to be thought-provoking and challenging.
