McGraw Hill Financial Appoints Pitt Law Alum Lucy Fato Executive Vice President and General Counsel
Lucy Fato, JD ’91, has been appointed executive vice president and general counsel at McGraw Hill Financial, according to a press release published by The Wall Street Journal. The New York, N.Y.-based McGraw Hill Financial is a global financial intelligence company with 17,000 employees in 29 countries, and its brands include Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services, S&P Capital IQ, S&P Dow Jones Indices, and McGraw Hill Construction, among others. Fato will assume her position August 4.
Fato previously served as vice president, deputy general counsel, and corporate secretary at Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC) Inc. In this role, she helped to oversee MMC’s global legal department and was primary liaison to the MMC Board of Directors. Prior to joining MMC, Fato was a capital markets partner at the law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell. In 2009, she was inducted into the YWCA-NYC Academy of Women Leaders for her outstanding leadership, professional achievements, and civic commitment.
Fato is a member of the Board of Directors of Amref Health Africa. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business and economics at the University of Pittsburgh and JD at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and served as the Law Review Notes and Comments editor.
