Beloved Alumnus Chief Judge Gary Lancaster, ’74, has Passed

On April 24, 2013, Chief Judge Gary Lancaster, ’74, a valued member of the Pitt Law family, passed away.  News of his passing has been captured in this Pittsburgh Tribune-Review article:

As noted in the article, Chief Judge Lancaster was beloved by colleagues, friends, and family.  Among his many accomplishments, he was the first African-American to serve as Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.  He will be greatly missed by the Pitt Law community.
