WORKERS’ COMPENSATION APPELLATE MOOT COURT

Orlando, FL, August 16-18, 2014

Dear Pitt Law 2L Students:

Like last year, the Zehmer Workers’ Compensation Appellate Moot Court has invited Pitt to participate in its annual competition.  The event is convened in Orlando, FL, each year, in conjunction with co-sponsors the National Association of Workers’ Compensation Judiciary (www.NAWCJ.org); and the Workers’ Compensation Institute (www.WCI360.com.)   Because of the particular date of the competition, it is open only to current second-year law students.

An in-house competition for a place on the team will be held at the law school on Sunday, March 2, 2014, with try-out slots starting at 1 PM.  The applicant will be provided (in advance) with a straightforward legal issue to study and then present to the sponsor (Judge Torrey); and coaches (Attorneys Lawrence Chaban (Pitt Law 1980) and Barbara Holmes (Pitt Law 1984)).

To secure a tryout slot and receive the competition package, and/or for any further questions, e-mail Judge Torrey: Dtorrey@pa.gov, or call 412-209-4322.

A website for LAST year’s competition is still up: http://www.wci360.com/news/article/26th-annual-earle-zehmer-moot-court-competition-a-wcec-session-preview.  A 2L need not necessarily be enrolled in the two workers’ compensation courses at this time in order to tryout.
