Pittsburgh-based Thorp Reed & Armstrong has announced the addition of four new attorneys, including two Pitt Law alumni: Sarah Miley, ’12, and Joseph Pope, ’08.

Miley, an associate in the firm’s Labor & Employment Law Practice Group, concentrates her practice in employment and labor-related issues, including discrimination, labor arbitration, and compliance matters. She will also focus on such matters as breach of noncompetition and confidentiality agreements, misappropriation of trade secrets, and breach of fiduciary duty. Miley received a J.D. from Pitt Law and a B.A., cum laude, from the University of Florida. Pope is a member of the Commercial, Real Estate, and Public Finance Practice Group. Prior to joining Thorp Reed, he represented financial institutions and other business clients at a boutique firm in Youngstown, Ohio, and, prior to that, at a Cleveland-based firm. While a law school student, Pope was a legal extern for Pennsylvania Supreme Court Chief Justice Ralph J. Cappy. In addition to earning his J.D. from Pitt Law, he studied at the University of Richmond in London, England; Temple University Beasley School of Law in Rome, Italy; and Thiel College, where he earned a B.A., summa cum laude.
