Deborah Brake Speaks at Hofstra on Gender Equality and Pay Equity
On Monday, April 19, 2010, Professor Deborah Brake was a panelist at Hofstra University School of Law for a panel discussion on the book, “Gender Equality: Dimensions of Women’s Equal Citizenship” (Joanna Grossman and Linda McClain, eds., Cambridge University Press, 2009). Professor Brake discussed several themes on the relationship between citizenship and gender equality running through the book.
On Tuesday, April 20, 1020, also at Hofstra University, Professor Brake was on a panel for National Equal Pay Day, “The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and Pay Equity Panel Discussion: The Past, Present and Future). The other panelists were Lilly Ledbetter and Kevin Russell (who argued the Ledbetter case in the Supreme Court). Professor Brake discussed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and the future of federal pay discrimination laws, including two bills pending in Congress that would strengthen the Equal Pay Act.
