Grading Details

10% will be based on 1-2 page weekly analysis papers relating to the assigned readings.

90% on a 15-20 page research paper: 55% (of the class grade) on the final paper submission, 25% on first draft, and 10% on completion of a clear thesis statement and research outline. Students also have the option of submitting a second draft prior to submitting the final paper in order to obtain additional feedback.

Description

This course will consider the theoretical, social, and philosophical underpinnings to any tax system. In addition, this course will consider both alternative tax systems and current issues in our tax policy. Students should come away from this course with a greater understanding of the political, economic and social constraints on our tax system.
