NOTE: Dates and times for the meetings of creditors will be posted after course begins. The meetings are conducted in the morning and early afternoon in downtown Pittsburgh.
The first Bankruptcy class will meet during the second week of the semester -- that is, on January 19 and not January 12, 2012. The scheduled class periods should be sufficient to make up the time missed during the first week.
Grading will be based primarily on a final examination. However, class participation (10%), homework assignments and quizzes (%s to be determined based upon the assignment) will count toward the final grade. One assignment will include a field trip to observe first meetings of creditors. A written paper of the student's legal analysis based upon observation and research (4 typewritten, double spaced pages) will be required and will count as 15% of the grade.
Prerequisites and Recommended Courses
Students are required to take Secured Transactions before or in the same semester as Bankruptcy.
